Attraction
Thump thump thump,
I could hear their drums beat
My heart also beat with them.
I put my head around the corner,
Whoa, is this too much for me?
I thought.
Thump thump, Closer closer,
Dancing as they go.
Smiling ear to ear, two lines on
the forehead
socks and sandals on their
feet.
I didn't know whether to stay
there or ....
Turn back, run the other way.
It was quite a sight you know!
By the time I had decided
To walk briskly the other way
They were already a few steps
ahead.
I stumbled back into the
surprised crowd,
Some rigid and unimpressed
And some with their bodies gently
swaying
To the rhythm.
I was frozen, this wasn't just
any tune
This was spiritual!
This was the Hare Krishna's
chant!
They were giving out leaflets, I
took one.
But I didn't want to seem a fool
and join in
So I just watched and when they
Moved on, so did I.
They had hand cymbals and they
played them
Like 1 - 2- 3 ...... 1 - 2 - 3
My hands started clapping,
My eyes closed on me and my head
Was nodding as if telling me
"Yes, Yes, Yesss!"
"This is where I wanna be,
This is what I want to
hear."
They led and I followed,
all the way to the temple, I went
in.
The warm air and warm atmosphere
Hit my cold face and frozen
heart.
They gave me some really good
food
They called it "Maha."
It hit my tongue like ecstasy.
It was the best thing I ever
tasted,
I knew the Hare Krishna's were
veggie
But that's why I thought they
were
Missing out!
Just shows how wrong one can be!
Thump thump thump,
Now I'm the one giving out the
leaflets.
It's ecstasy!
