In The Garden
Earlier in the year, a large area of the field behind the orchard was covered with black agryl.
Holes were made in the covering to plant a variety of pumpkins and squash.
At the further end different kales were planted,
This Agryl covering has served to protect the crops from the usual armies of slugs and prevented weed growth and saved us a lot of energy and hours tackling the pests and weeding.
Some of the visitors to the farm have also planted out the new strawberry trailers potted up from the top garden, so we also look forward to a weed free strawberry crop next year.
Most
of the pumpkins large and small have now been harvested by Govinda and will
be stored in the dairy room. Any surplus will be sold to organic produce
shops in the local town.
