Summer FestivalWe have two web sites:

Situated in the midst of an extensive nature reserve is the beautiful Inisrath Island on Upper Lough Erne, Co Fermanagh. Here a rural Hare Krishna community leads a way of life inspired by the 5000 year old Vedic Texts of ancient India.

Members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness have been drawn to this island because of the remoteness and serenity of Lough Erne. For a similar reason early Christian monks had settled in this region over a millenium ago, and five monasteries were established on other islands of this lake.

Visitors can admire the magnificent golden altar in the traditional temple. They can experience the timeless music of the Vedas, partake of a sumptuous vegetarian lunch and afterwards visit the craftshop and exhibition.  Directions are shown below.

Regular guided tours take place throughout the summer.  Group tours by appointment throughout the year.

Surrounded by thick woodland, there are rolling lawns, forest paths and magnificent views.  Peakcocks, heron, swan, irish hare and other wildlife wander freely in the peaceful lakeland atmosphere.  At the island's interior stands an elegant Victorian stately house.  A section of this former 19th century nobleman's home has been restored as a visitors' centre.

The Hare Krishna devotees, rising in the early hours of the morning, sing devotional songs, chant meditative mantras, study and discuss the ancient philosophy presented in the 5000 year old literatures. These have been translated, from the original Sanskrit, and presented with elaborate commentaries by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. These books reveal a vast wealth of information about nature, the self, the universe and its origins, consciousness, re-incarnation and the science of the laws of karma.
