| Welcome to our resource pages, outlining the many opportunities IES
offers to the education world. In supporting you we strive to combine professionalism with our
traditional ideals of service and hospitality.
Teaching about Hinduism can be a daunting task. Balancing accessibility with accurate representation can be especially demanding, considering the tradition's diversity. But, as with all challenges, there is here an underlying opportunity. The tradition's wealth of sights, sounds, smells and tastes provide fantastic material for exciting learning. Consider, for example, the possibilities of exploring classical dance and theatre and for arranging temple visits. Also featured is a select range of quality books and artefacts. When ordering you will automatically receive an Artefacts Sheet with each item. You can even ring us for further advice on using your new purchase (a kind of 'technical support service'!) To help at the planning stage, we've included a section entitled 'Tips on Teaching about Hinduism'. In addition, the calendar lists all the major Hindu festivals until 2003 - Do consider using it when drawing up your schemes of work. If you are interested in temple visits or guest speakers, then please consult our list of national contacts. Finally, thank you once again for your ongoing support. Please do get back to us if you have any queries, or indeed if you have any suggestion for improving our service to you. With best wishes, Rasamandala Das PS The section on INSET will be of special interest to RE advisers.
