Queen receives Bhagavad-Gita at Hindu temple

Continuing her Jubilee celebration tour, this afternoon the Queen visited a Hindu temple (Highgate Hill Murugan temple) in North London. This was the first time the Queen has visited a Hindu temple in the UK. The visit was was facilitated by the National Council of Hindu Temples.

Atmanivedana swami and Bimal Krishna dasa attended the function, Bimal Krishna presenting Her majesty with Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad Gita As It Is.

The Queen was very pleased and received the Gita graciously. She looked at the cover and then handed the Gita to Prince Philip who immediately began to look thorugh it, and with a simle on his face commented 'Oh, it's in English'.

Hopefully the whole royal family will become as well-educated in the Vedas as Prince Charles, who at the recent launch of his new inter-faith project 'Repect' remarked to Romapada dasa "the Pandava princes were very tolerant rulers weren't they? We can all learn from them..."
