Janmasthami 2000

Lord Krishna was born on Janmastami. He was a very beautiful and mischievous child who captured everybody's soul and mind. He has many different names. He is a friend of all. He has no weapons except His flute which He plays and attracts everybody. The only weapon He has is His love for everybody.

This year all the devotees and congregation members celebrated Janmastami with great enthusiasm. The temple hall was fully packed.

The program began from 4.30 in the morning with Mangal Aarti and continued until 3.00 in the morning the following day. Everybody were cooking for the Lordships. There were over 150 offerings for the Lordships. Ecstatic kirtan took place with lots of singing and dancing.

At 10.30pm we bathed Bal Gopala and dressed Him beautifully. He was then placed on a swing, which was decorated with flowers. The Lordship enjoyed the swinging and looked very beautiful and cheeky.

At midnight there was Aarti and then the delicious prasad. It was a pleasure to serve all the devotees.

The next day we celebrated Srila Prabhupada's appearance day. We all said a few words to the deity of Srila Prabhupada. More ecstatic dancing and singing took place and then the prasad.
