The Big Green Gathering 2000, set in the panoramic Wiltshire plains, was a wealth of improvisation and inspiration. Reminiscent of India, the most improbable Heath Robinson - type vehicles, and gadgets were put to inventive working use. Beautiful and thoughtful altars abounded to Tree Spirit and Moon Goddess. The Hiroshima flame that's been burning since 1945 was dwarfed by our story of Sri Sri Radha Raman's temple flame in Vrndavana that's been burning 450 years, but they were interested to know how - one of the wonders of ghee. Though we have the best philosophy, we're somewhat an "also-ran" in terms of presentation sometimes, so we had to try more creatively. Chanting could be heard all over the site from Shambala to Vaikuntha. An Indian - style clay figure of Lord Siva protected the space, saris and kurtas and hotis were the popular mode of dress, even Lord Rama and Lord Siva stopped by for a chat and they weren't knowingly devotees - just people who thought they were cool. ur Spanish devotee band, "UNDROP", charmed all from grannies to groovies with their electronic sitar and guitar accompanied maha mantras, day and night, and Parasuram piled piles of Prashadam - a double-pronged attack few could resist. So many devotees in different varnas - healers, perma-culture gardeners, greenies etc. Those who thought the "Hari's" were old hippies found us quite "hip". Radha's Grove was the bhajan space, complementing the loud stuff. The Golden Age of Lord Caitanya was visible - kids ran to join harinam clusters round campfires chanting the Holy Name themselves - mixed up mantras but still the Names. People brought offerings of fruits and flowers - Buddhists brought Lord Buddhas prasad for everyone to share - Christians danced and sang along. Now we have to keep the magic alive. Your servant,
