A Vital Force

Here in Wicklow in the past there wasn't much of an opportunity to meet a wide audience to preach Krsna consciousness. Many important duties had to be established and maintained. Namely our community and school etc., and by Krsna's grace many of our goals are being realised. Recently devotees from the community have been engaged in preaching at Sunday feasts, performing plays, visiting schools and doing television programmes. I think for everyone involved it has breathed fresh life into us all and has been great.

From my personal perspective it has helped me enormously in my spiritual development to appreciate our teachings. It is marvellous to see how they defeat all the so-called innovative thinkers, with their concoctions and solutions. It has been a spiritual tonic to take part and to observe my friends in the community deliver our philosophy in their various inimitable styles. My son Krsna dasa who is just seven years old recounts many of the feisty question and answers sessions the devotees have with the audience, with enthusiasm and delight, and learns so much from these programmes:- hearing the examples of the madness of decorating the train compartment so diligently when one is going to leave the train further on down the line and trying to enjoy the material world is like eating sweet rice mixed with sand particles; hearing devotees attack the mad notions of the scientists with their demoniac attacks on Krsna, serves to shake me to my dull lazy boots. It leads me to conclude that this is an essential part of my life if I am to grow healthily in my spiritual life.
